The McNally Estate was built as a winter home in 1888 for Andrew McNally, the lead partner of Chicago’s Rand McNally Publishing. This Queen Anne – Shingle Style Victorian was designed by Pasadena’s greatest architect of the time, Frederick Roehrig. Roehrig executed this nearly 7,000 square foot estate with nine bedrooms, five bathrooms and seven fireplaces. The house itself is a masterpiece from the late 19th century, but it is the Turkish room that was added in 1897 that completes the estate and makes it unique.
UPDATE: We are heartbroken to report that the McNally Estate was destroyed on January 8, 2025, in the Eaton fire. We hope this video will continue to provide a look at the extraordinary house to those who were never able to see it, and serve as a reminder of how special and truly irreplaceable these structures are.
